What Is the Function of the Forklift Brake Pedal?
The primary purpose of the forklift brake pedal is to slow down and stop the forklift. When the pedal is pressed, it immediately reduces the speed of the forklift and eventually brings it to a halt, ensuring safe operation. In traditional forklifts, the brake pedal is connected to the throttle via a cable or lever, which closes the throttle when pressed, cutting off engine power. In modern electronically controlled forklifts, the brake pedal sends signals to the engine's ECU to reduce throttle opening, facilitating effective deceleration.
How Does the HELI Forklift Foot Brake Work?
When you depress the HELI forklift foot brake pedal, a series of mechanical or electronic actions are initiated. In traditional hydraulic braking systems, the brake pedal pushes the master cylinder piston, creating hydraulic pressure. This pressure is transmitted through hydraulic lines to the wheel cylinders, forcing brake shoes against the brake drums, creating friction, and slowing or stopping the forklift.
