Cylinder Head Cover Gasket
The cylinder head cover gasket is necessary because the surfaces of the cylinder block and cylinder head are not perfectly flat. It prevents high-pressure gases, lubricating oil, and coolant from leaking between them. The gasket fills microscopic gaps, ensuring a good seal at the joint, maintaining combustion chamber integrity, and preventing leaks from the cylinders and water jackets. As the engine operates under high temperature, pressure, and power, while being exposed to oil, coolant, and gases, the materials used for the oil and coolant passages need to meet high standards. Fluororubber and silicone rubber are commonly used for these gaskets, as they can withstand these conditions effectively.
