When inspecting forklift steering knuckles, an adjuster shim might be very helpful to you in adjusting the clearance of the steering knuckle. First, the forklift must be lifted onto wooden blocks to inspect. Do not support the truck solely with the jack.

- Shake the tire, spin, and listen for growling bearings and excessive play when shaken.
- Check any leaks at the steer cylinder and hose, worn link pins or rod ends, material wrapped in the axle, and damaged axle seals.
